"Phillip"

I stumbled across the old Bedford bus on the Russell-Whakapara Road in the Bay of Islands. I always find such delight in derelict objects. The colours are so vibrant.

I named the painting "Phillip" after my Mainecoon Cat. He was with me everyday in my studio. A month before he was to turn 4 years old (July 2024) and only a days work to finsih the painting; he was kidnapped while I was out. I spent 6 weeks searching for him and my grief made it impossible to paint. I did however, finish the painting. It was cathartic and healing. RIP Phil x
